four and half points
Notes to Myself, shared with world

Lets see...how deep the rabbit hole goes !

By Chhavi Gupta

Last to last weekend was officially my last weekend in Bangalore and as a tradition, it is expected to write a mail thanking all the colleagues that how it was pleasure to work with them and how it was learning experience.. blah blah..

But this one surly different for me, I am moving to new city..and I don’t know if there is a mail alias “Bangalore-All” to send a goodbye mail, I am moving to a new Job and I don’t know how I can get relived from a something like Mobisy which was part of my life for in last few years.

I am getting a feeling as one computer is unplugged from electric supply while it was up and running and now being plugged to new place and one is puzzled..If hard disk is crashed.. if OS is corrupted…if all my work is lost ..or don’t worry just keep fingers crossed and this will be running normally as it happened in past so many times.

As I wait impatiently, for system to reboot, I am making a checklist for my four and half points, which I can crosscheck after a while to check if system is running normally. Interestingly my schedule for last weekend also sums up as a checklist to see life is normal

1. Thanks God its Friday

Friday evening: We had our usual laaaaate night beer and cocktails with friends. This is something not changed for years and we will be surly missing our friends and parties, though I have a long list of friends to catch-up, and be back in touch and looking forward to meet new people, I am quite sure getting back in a group like this almost impossible.

2. Run Lola Run

Sunday Morning: We were a Nike run club in Kanteerva stadium with Beedu sir (highly recommended if you are in Bangalore and anytime get a feel that your fitness is function of your age). Though we are no way near to run a marathons or something like that, we enjoyed our forever struggle to be fit in spite all the usual excuses. I already started searching for “Running Clubs” in area we are planning to rent a place and Delhi seems to have quite a few good sports complex spread all over places.

3. Discovery of India

Sunday afternoon: we had “all you can eat” meal in Rajadhani, a Rajasthani restaurant in UB plaza. Food taste was not a match with true Rajastani food but ambience and service is something one can try as experience in Bangalore (this can be highly biased opinion as just few weeks back, we had mouth watering Dal Bati in Santosh Bhojanalya in Udaipur) .Exploring taste and places is also become regular weekend to-dos for us and I have already started marking places in and around Delhi in my Lonely Planet.

4. Parenting 2.0

Sunday evening: We were at Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium with my daughter Aarna. It was surly a trigger for her uncountable “why” questions for next few days and our quest to find ‘right” answer for each one of them. From her “amazing school” Geniekids, we also learnt a lot and most of learning is translated into fun time we are having with her. We will miss her school Habba and Mela and my search for something like this place in Delhi is on in full swing.

Pack and Go

I am writing this in early Monday morning flight to Delhi and it’s not at all convenient to start packing after Sunday dinner and then take a taxi for airport @ 3:00 AM. But last few years travel been on and off part of my job and I shared my travel experiences with friends over mails but this time travel (?)  Experience is something I believe lot of people will find interesting.

Stay Tuned!

No Smoking please !

By Chhavi Gupta
I was smoking for long time around 9 years, tried quitting for almost 2 years ...
and not smoking for last 3 years.. here are things which worked for me

1. Accept It

Accept that you are sick.
you are in control of Nicotine, you have already damaged your body, most of time its affecting your social life and relationships with people who you care or people who care for you.

I lost initial 5-6 years, as like others..i always told myself, its not a habit and i am different from other smokers and stop anytime. who are you fooling ?

2. Find many reasons to stop

anything ...just anything...you need to find a reason to stop.

for me, it was friends, then it was new year resolution, then it was my daughter....
i am doubtful that if i listen to my friends many a times, or kept any new year resolutions,
apart from this one.

3. Find a replacement

smoking is habit, disease and curse, it has its own world

for each time your mind say NO to 1 smoke, 10 things around make you beg for one.
the shop you stop over for your daily stock, your morning coffee, your friends at smoking place,
walk after lunch, break in long meeting ..and stars starting at you in night
...everything wants you to take just one puff.

I eat bananas, for every craving i can.
I said " i luv you" to my wife wherever I used to ask "can I smoke just one",
I found a new route to my office..

4. Breathing

we breath and we live..its basic of life..smoking destroys this balance of inhaling and exhaling air.
learn yoga, walk, exercise..go to place with fresh air...

Enjoy breathing

I always avoid preaching about smoking..
I very well remember my feeling for the guys who tried doing this to me...when I was smoking.
I know..everybody is different ..and there are different things works for everybody.

but if you are a smoker...and you have read..till this point..
in that case ..you have a problem and a already proven solution..try it...and share results..
